“Plovdiv Airport was the first airport in Bulgaria that welcomed Ryanair in 2010 and since then Ryanair is our reliable partner. We are happy to celebrate our new winter schedule together and we believe our partnership will bring more destinations and satisfaction to passengers.”

Birmingham is a city that offers something for everyone, from history and culture to nature and entertainment. This makes it an ideal tourist destination for both short and longer breaks. There will be flights once a week from Plovdiv to Birmingham with a departure time of 11:40 every Saturday. The first flight is on November 2.

"The new line is possible thanks to the active communication of the airport team with the airline and the help of the Plovdiv Airport Development Fund – the Southern Gate of Bulgaria," added Doychin Angelov.

The meeting was attended by the mayor of Chepelare municipality Boran Hadzhiev, the mayor of Kuklen municipality Maria Belcheva, the mayor of Perushtitsa Nikolay Bakov, the mayor of Brezovo municipality Kalin Kalapanov, Petar Denchev – chairman of the Association of Plovdiv hoteliers, as well as representatives of "Pamporovo" AD and of non-profit association “Fund Phoenix".

Alicja Wójcik-Gołębiowska answered the journalists’ questions and assured them that the launch of routes to Spain and Italy from Plovdiv is being considered for the near future. In a discussion with the present mayors and members of the Plovdiv Airport Development Fund, it was concluded that it is very essential to promote the destination of Plovdiv and the region, which is a catalyst for attracting tourist flow.

Alicja Wójcik-Gołębiowska shared the good experience of Croatia, Albania and Poland that have successfully developed new tourist routes.

Ryanair continues to invest and grow in Plovdiv and Sofia, delivering more routes, lower fares, traffic, tourism, and jobs growth. This growth can only be secured with low airport charges and long term strategy that stimulates traffic, brings passengers and grows local economy.
